The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with local vendors, will be hosting the “Taste of Kosciusko” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Winona Heritage Room, 901 Park Ave., Winona Lake.
Previously a part of the annual “Taste and Trade Expo,” this year’s event is a spin-off of the expo with a primary focus on food vendors and with a change in the typical entertainment options offered at past expos.
The Taste of Kosciusko’s organizers hope to accomplish two goals with the event:
- To provide one venue to promote Kosciusko restaurants to individuals who may not be aware of them.
- To inform those outside of the county about the growing dining scene within Kosciusko.
The hope is that locals and visitors alike will choose to frequent local dining establishments in the future if given a chance to sample the fare.
The expo will feature about two dozen local food vendors from all over Kosciusko County, including Mad Anthony’s, Noa Noa, One Ten Craft Meatery, Redwood Firewood Grill, Cerulean Restaurant, Light Rail Café & Roaster, Tippy Creek Winery, Bella Vitale, Crazy Egg, Martin’s Super Markets and Black Tie Catering.
Visitors to the event are encouraged to sample each of the vendors’ menu items to get a taste of the food the county has to offer.
There is no cost to attend the event. Food tickets will be available to purchase for $1 each, and food vendors will offer a menu of items with the cost listed in food tickets.
In addition to the normal entertainment offered at previous expos, attendees will also be able to participate in cooking classes from Winona Lake’s Cerulean Restaurant and Warsaw’s One Ten Craft Meatery. Other entertainment options will include canvas and cookies for children and canvas and wine for adults.
