A day after celebrating its second birthday, South Bend Brew Werks is making plans for family friendly seating official.
In a post on the brew pub’s Facebook page, the company says that it’s received initial approval from the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission to do a small amount of construction that would create a family friendly seating area.
In an interview, Dan O’Sullivan, general manager for South Bend Brew Werks, explained that the plan will be to eventually make family seating available inside the taproom as well as outside.
“Everything south of the donation pillar will be family seating,” O’Sullivan said.
O’Sullivan stressed that the intent of the construction is to keep the already existing aesthetic of the taproom and many of the sight lines, while meeting Indiana regulations.
According to the post, the brewpub, located at 216 S. Michigan St. in downtown South Bend, hopes to finish construction by the end of October.
During its birthday celebration over the weekend, Brew Werks raised $588.80 for its Beer 4 Good program. So far this year, the company has raised $49,172 in donations for La Casa de Amistad, Neighborhood Resources Connection and The Music Village.
