A popular Mexican restaurant in Elkhart is open again a day after the Indiana Department of Revenue forced it to close over unpaid taxes.
Ricky’s Taqueria wasn’t allowed to open Wednesday because owner Jesus Rojas owed about $16,000 in taxes from April, May and June, Rojas told Flavor 574. Officials from the IDR met him at the restaurant to ensure it was closed.
Rojas was waiting on a personal tax return and made the payment in South Bend on Wednesday.
The restaurant at 57995 C.R. 9 will open as normal on Thursday.
