Whether it’s the signature cocktails or the 15 menu items, Render Kitchen and Bar doesn’t want to look exactly like something you’ve seen before.
“We’re just young and we’re different,” said Bryan Robertson, one of the owners of the new place that opens to the public on Friday, July 22.
Robertson is opening the restaurant near the East Race with co-owners Hilary Maich and Chef Eamonn McParland.
They’ve worked for other local restaurant operators and wanted to do their own place, their own way.
“I want to do small plates,” said McParland. “That’s how you can get duck for 16 bucks.”
Rather than one large entree for $40, he wants people to be able to get three plates that are somewhere between a usual appetizer or entree.
There will be five salads, five seafood and five other meat dishes on the opening menu. “I really put my heart and soul into this place,” McParland said.
Robertson’s signature cocktails, McParland’s courses and Maich’s desserts all show care and burst with flavors. The trio showed off their efforts at two soft-opening events this week and said they’re ready to open to the public.
Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday and 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Reservations can be made by calling, via the website or through Yelp reservations, but you don’t need a reservation to dine at Render, Robertson said.
