Ben's Soft Pretzels makes $30,000 donation to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund
A free pretzel already tastes great, but it’s even better when it means donations to help veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
On National Pretzel Day, April 26, the Elkhart-based Ben’s Soft Pretzels offered free pretzels to customers who gave a $1 donation to benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF), a not-for-profit organization designed to help members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. According to a press release, the bakery gave out 20,000 pretzels and made a grand total donation of $30,000 to the IFHF, eclipsing their first year donation of $15,000.
“We love celebrating National Pretzel Day every year and it makes the holiday that much more meaningful when we know we are contributing to a great cause,” said Scott Jones, CEO and co-founder of Ben’s Soft Pretzels, in a release. “The participation we saw this year from customers was astonishing. Every free pretzel provided that day allowed another person to say that they supported our veterans through Intrepid Fallen Heroes and that’s a great feeling.”
To show their appreciation and dedication to the IFHF, executives from Ben’s took a trip to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City on National Pretzel Day. Ben’s will raise funds for the IFHF again this October during National Pretzel Month.
Ben’s currently has 62 locations in six states — including one recently inside the South Bend Chocolate Café at 122 S. Michigan St., in downtown South Bend — and plans to develop more than 20 new locations this year.
