Vegetable Buddies in downtown South Bend officially opens with food and musical acts planned

The beat goes on.

According to the Vegetable Buddies Facebook page, the nightclub officially opened on Wednesday, May 4, in downtown South Bend.

The original club, a famous musical spot in South Bend from 1976 to 1980, hosted many popular blues, bluegrass, rock and jazz musicians.

The club will serve appetizers (including Cornbread Buddies, muffins stuffed with house pork) entrees (including Bourbon and Coke Meatloaf, served open-faced with Texas toast, black pepper gravy, a fried egg and one side) and desserts (including a Maker’s Mark Sweet Potato Pie), according to its website.

Music will begin this Saturday, May 7, at 10 p.m. with DOG & PONY. Other planned musicians include the Hurricane Reggae Band, Ripe, Delta Dave and the Decibels and The Amazing Samantha Fish.

The nightclub is located at 129 N. Michigan St., South Bend. Hours will be from 4 p.m. to midnight Wednesday and Thursday and from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
