There were no melted expectations on the opening day for The Chief in Goshen.

It was perfect ice cream weather, and folks lined up all the way to the sidewalk to get a taste on Monday, April 18.

The popular ice cream shop opened with about 17 available flavors, including Coffee Break, Muddy Sneakers and Ant Farm. According to owner Vanessa Steffen, prices will be a nickel higher this year due to a rise in food prices.

The Chief will be open from noon to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Labor Day.
