Ben’s Pretzels is opening a new brick-and-mortar bakery in downtown South Bend on National Pretzel Day, April 26.
The Elkhart County-based business, which will soon have locations in seven different states, will have fresh soft pretzels available inside the South Bend Chocolate Cafe at 122 S. Michigan St. According to the Ben’s Pretzels website, the Michigan Street location will be open Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Though Ben’s Pretzels was previously available at the South Bend Farmer’s Market and on Notre Dame’s campus, the company will now have another permanent location in South Bend, with pretzels baked on-site.
The cafe will soon be a co-branded store offering both Ben’s Pretzels and products from the South Bend Chocolate Company, according to Kristina Tressler, retail operations manager for South Bend Chocolate.
“The coming together of two well-known Northern Indiana brands is going to have big rewards on both ends,” said Tressler in a press release. “South Bend is home to a lot of people that visit us frequently and I hope that when people think of South Bend they think of Ben’s Soft Pretzels at the Chocolate Shop.”
To celebrate National Pretzel Day and the store opening, Ben’s is offering customers one jumbo pretzel for a minimum $1 donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund on April 26. The fund supports U.S. military personnel and veterans and their families.
