St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Elkhart to host their 46th annul salad luncheon in April

For the last 45 years, the women of the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church have put on a salad luncheon.

The date for the 46th annual event is April 27 in the St. Thomas school gym at 1331 N. Main St., Elkhart, according to Laurie Brewers and Vickie Bayer, co-chairwomen of the event.

It sounds polite and dainty, but the tables are full of every kind of salad: lettuce, seven-layer, pasta and Jell-O. The star of the show is a hot chicken salad with chicken and crushed potato chips. It’s more of a casserole, but is called a salad nonetheless.

Cold drinks, bread and desserts are also part of the meal, which is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $7 at the door.
