The Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot was packed with some hungry Elkhart residents on opening day on Wednesday, March 9.

The chain restaurant, located at 522 E. Windsor Ave. in Elkhart will be open until midnight on their opening night. Regular hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday and Monday, 11 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Gene Stauffer, co-owner of the restaurant, said they were hoping to open on March 1. But the main target was to open before March Madness, Bret Robertson, director of operations for the location, said.

The new location will look and feel different than the other Buffalo Wild Wings in the area, Robertson said. The newly built restaurant features the “stadia” style layout that will give the feel of being in a stadium.

“We have a new entryway and it will feel like a stadium as soon as you walk through the door,” Robertson said.

The overall concept is much more open, and there is a separate entrance for guests getting take-out orders. The location also features a four-season patio and 72 TVs.

And so far, customers are liking the new concept and enjoying the same menu.

Ray Petit has been looking forward to the new location since he heard the opening on Facebook. His friend, Tripp Bradford, was excited because he heard they were going to have 72 TVs at the Elkhart location.

“I like it. You can see a lot of TVs,” Bradford said.

Petit said he’s always wrestling over the remote control so it’s nice to be able to watch more than one game at once.

“My neck’s not hurting to see the TVs,” customer Mark Walker joked.

Other BW3s locations in Michiana include 1829 Rieth Blvd., Goshen; 4343 N. Grape Road, Mishawaka; and 326 W. Ireland Road, South Bend.
