IHOP to offer free pancakes on March 8 to celebrate National Pancake Day

To celebrate National Pancake Day, IHOP will be offering a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes to customers from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 8.

Guests will be asked to leave a voluntary donation to their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Shriners Hospital for Children and another local charity.

“Every pancake we give away has a purpose on National Pancake Day. Through the generosity of our guests and the hard work and commitment of our franchisees and their team members, we will help fund life-saving treatment and care for children in need,” Darren Rebelez, president of International House of Pancakes LLC., said in a press release.

In the past 10 years, IHOP has raised $20 million in donations for local charities, raising $3.5 million in 2015 alone. The restaurant hopes to raise another $3.5 million in 2016.

Before participating in National Pancake Day, IHOP supported Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by selling Miracle Balloons in $1 and $5 amounts. Miracle Balloons will again be available for purchase from Feb. 1 to March 8. Customers who purchase a balloon at the $5 amount will receive a $5 discount coupon for use on their next visit to IHOP, according to a press release.

There are two IHOP locations nearby in Michiana — one in Dunlap and another in Mishawaka.
