Flavor 574 wants you to shake off some winter blues by coming to Kalamazoo with us.
We’re planning our first beer bus trip for Jan. 16.
It’s been in the works for a while and we landed on a date, which happens to be the first day of Kalamazoo Beer Week — the Michigan city’s celebration of brewing and the culture it builds.
We’ll gather at Goshen Brewing Co. at 10 a.m. that Saturday for a waffle brunch with either chicken or fruit. After about an hour there, we’ll head to Iechyd Da Brewing in Elkhart for a stop, where everyone will get a snack bag for the bus.
You’ve likely read a lot about these two places in Flavor 574. They’re both making great beer and food. They’ve become places to gather and have conversation. They’re both just cool.
After some time at our local spots, we’ll head north to Kalamazoo on the chartered Cardinal bus. It will drop us off in downtown Kalamazoo, where Bell’s Brewing got this all going 30 years ago. Since then, other breweries have come and gone, but there’s been a lot of growth in the number of breweries in Kalamazoo in recent years.

Folks on the bus trip will be able to wander among the breweries and Beer Week events for the afternoon and early evening. We’ll board the bus back to Elkhart County at 8 p.m.
It’ll be a fun way to learn more about, and enjoy, the craft beer scene in Kalamazoo.
