Mad Anthony Brewing Co. will be tapping their Mad Brewers Challenge winning beer for this year on Wednesday, Dec. 9. Local homebrewers Dan Voors and Sam Snyder won this year’s contest with Hopocalypse Double IPA. The top prize was awarded through public vote during OktoBEERfest, and earned Dan and Sam the grand prize, the opportunity to brew their beer commercially at Mad Anthony’s facility under the guidance of Brew Master Jeremy Zuber.

This robust Double IPA was brewed with 72 pounds of honey from Rekeweg Honey Company in Decatur and comes in at 8.6% ABV with 76 IBUs. Hopocalypse Double IPA will be on tap at all Mad Anthony brewpubs beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9. OktoBEERfest 2016 is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2016 at Headwaters Park West.
The Fort Wayne location offers the most tap selections, with 19 beers currently on tap including some not found at other locations such as Bourbon Barrel Aged Punkunhead and Horse House Honey Cream Ale. However, you can still find HopSquatch II (7.5% ABV, IBUs 55) at all four locations. This is their recently released single hop American style IPA brewed with Mosaic hops.
