Warsaw's One Ten Craft Meatery opens The Vic and turns to Kickstarter and community for help with expansion

Even though small business Saturday might be done and over with for another year, that doesn’t mean your chance to help local small businesses ended that day. One Ten Craft Meatery, the farm-to-table restaurant in downtown Warsaw, is expanding and has initiated a Kickstarter campaign to help with that effort.

After experiencing a tremendous positive response from the community during its first ten months in business, Jason Brown, owner and chef at One Ten, decided to expand the business next door to the building just south of their present location. The Vic, as it will officially be known, will be located at 112 South Buffalo Street and will function as an event space, able to seat up to 100 people for events such as small weddings, private parties, corporate events, banquets and receptions. Meant to inspire a sense of culture and community in downtown Warsaw, The Vic builds on the belief of One Ten’s owners that a city’s downtown is where “people come together to celebrate, connect, and share experiences.”

Giving the community of Warsaw and its surrounding areas a place to celebrate its small town spirit by opening the event center next door was a grand gesture but the move will also help impact the local economy as well. Since One Ten focuses on fresh local ingredients grown as close to Warsaw as possible, any increase in their business brought on by the opening of The Vic would keep their customers’ money local.

“We are incredibly excited about the continued growth of One Ten with the opening of The Vic. The new space will serve as overflow seating for the restaurant and will also be available to rent for banquets, meetings, small weddings, receptions, concerts, etc,” said Brown.

“We decided to crowd fund through Kickstarter because we felt it would create community involvement not only to help build something but also to sustain individual contribution toward the growth and revitalization of our downtown.”

Keep in mind that when you make a contribution to their Kickstarter campaign, you’re not just giving money away. Besides your funds staying local, you will be receiving a tangible reward based on the size of your gift. A $25 pledge will get you a One Ten t-shirt and travel cup. Increase that award to $100 and you’ll receive their “Date Night” thank you which includes an appetizer of your choice, two entrees and two desserts, perfect for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday. Want to get together with some of your friends and help out? Pledge $1100 and one of One Ten’s chefs will prepare a five-course meal in your own home for up to eight people.

“Warsaw’s excitement for One Ten has been overwhelming and without it we wouldn’t have this opportunity to expand or the reassurance of support behind us,” said Brown.

Editor’s note: Owner Jason Brown said after this story was published that they settled on the name of The Vic, not The Vict, so we updated the story.
