Bites & Bitters: Creighton’s Crazy Egg Café and Coffee Bar is a trendy new breakfast spot in Warsaw
After opening the coffee bar portion a couple months ago, Warsaw’s new Creighton’s Crazy Egg Café and Coffee Bar finally opened the café portion in late October. Describing the food as “farmhouse favorites with a modern twist,” the small but varied breakfast menu is “egg-centric” in the strictest sense of the word (which may or may not actually be a word).

With the Creighton egg producing facility located on the same property, its “Eggs so fresh they’ve never left the farm” catchphrase couldn’t ring more true and if there’s a plate on the breakfast menu, you’re guaranteed to find one of those farm-fresh eggs.
The standout on the breakfast menu, which is served until 10:30 a.m., is the bacon and eggs Benedict. It also happens to be the priciest at $7.99 but offers the most value, as you’ll be feasting on this dish for at least one more breakfast. It’s not your typical eggs Benedict dish, since the hollandaise sauce has been betrayed by a healthy helping of bacon gravy that covers the entire plate. Combined with a few strips of bacon blanketing the slices of hard boiled eggs and slightly sweet homemade buttermilk biscuits and you have not only a bacon lover’s dream come true, but a dish any breakfast aficionado can appreciate.
Lunch is served until 2 p.m., and includes staples like salads, Scotch eggs, nachos and mac and cheese. Sandwiches are also represented with variations such as pulled pork, smoked chicken and a “colossal” four cheese grilled cheese, which includes bacon. A smoked sausage bake, consisting of chicken cordon bleu sausage, roasted potatoes and seasoned veggies baked in a homemade cheese sauce, might end up being the dish that keeps people heading to the west side of Warsaw for their lunchtime dining destination.

Gluten-free plates are all over the menu and for those of you with nut allergies, the café and coffee bar are peanut- and tree nut-free facilities. The hospitality staff are fully compensated so while tips are appreciated, they are not necessary, adding even more value to your dining experience.
