BEN’S SOFT PRETZELS RAISING MONEY FOR INTREPID FALLEN HEROES FUND THIS MONTH

Now through the end of the month, you can make a difference next time you go to Ben’s Soft Pretzels.

Ben’s is accepting minimum $1 donations in effort to raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Customers who donate can add their name to a “battleship” posted outside of the pretzel stores.

The goal is to pass the $17,000 raised for the organization earlier this year, according to a news release from Ben’s Soft Pretzels.

There will be other deals during the month, or “Pretzeltober,” as Ben’s calls it. Customers can enjoy three jumbo soft pretzels and three dipping sauces for $10, or a happy hour special that includes a $2 jumbo soft pretzel with dip between 2 and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

SEED TO FEED NEEDS VOLUNTEERS TO HELP HARVEST POTATOES

Have a few hours midweek to spare and some old clothes that can get dirty? Great, you’re qualified to help harvest potatoes for Seed to Feed

The organization’s annual potato harvest is Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Wednesday, Oct. 7. The program partners with a local farmer each year to harvest potatoes to help those in need.

Harvest came a bit early this year, so volunteers are still needed to pluck potatoes from the tilled field. The farmer expects to yield about 40,000 pounds of potatoes.

This year’s field is at 62535 C.R. 37, Goshen. Harvest begins at 9 a.m. and goes until sunset, though volunteers aren’t expected to work all day.
