The Chief closed for the season on Labor Day, but will be open Friday, Oct. 2, if you’re craving a taste.

A few years ago, the owners of the popular ice cream stand at 502 W. Lincoln Ave., Goshen, started opening on First Fridays during the off-season.

Vanessa Steffen, one of the owners, said the stand will open at noon with 25 flavors and remain open until the pints are gone. In addition to the 13 regular flavors, there will be cotton candy, ant farm, blueberry cheesecake, cookie dough, mint Oreo, pumpkin, peanut butter Oreo, raspberry white chocolate almond, coffee break, yellow cake batter, and black cherry, she said.

Goshen College alumni in town for homecoming who don’t always get here during the summer can get a taste.

There will be other food at First Fridays, including a chili competition at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship and chicken enchiladas at The Window.
