Elkhart Dining Days is on its way.
The event, organized by Flavor 574, will be Oct. 30 through Nov. 7, a bit later this time than in previous years.
During the nine-day event, specials of up to $30 will be offered at restaurants throughout Elkhart. In addition to deals and special menu items, 10 percent of the proceeds from those meals will go to Church Community Services, a non-profit agency in Elkhart that helps those in need, particularly with food and financial assistance, but also with job training programs.
In 2014, 23 restaurants and bakeries participated in the event. It raised more than $4,000 from sales of nearly 2,800 specials. That money went to the Food Bank of Elkhart County, which CCS operated until earlier this year when the food bank work reverted to Food Bank of Northern Indiana. This year’s proceeds will go to the same agency as in previous years.
In 2014, Elkhart Dining Days included a popular frog legs special at Pete’s Simonton Lake Tavern and Curry of the Shire at Iechyd Da, among others. We will let you know what some of the specials will be for this year as the event draws closer.
You won’t need coupons or tickets. Depending on the place, you won’t need reservations. If you go to one of the participating restaurants, you don’t have to order the specials, but doing so will help a community cause while you enjoy the best local chefs and owners have to offer.
Lochmandy Motors has signed on as the title sponsor and others will join in support of the event. Restaurants are encouraged to sign up by Sept. 30. If you want to contact us, you can do so at email@example.com.
As restaurants join in the fun, you’ll be able to find information at elkhartdiningdays.flavor574.com.
