Burger King asking McDonald's to wave white flag with 'McWhopper'

Burger King wants fast food worlds to collide for one day. 

The fast-food chain took a full-page advertisement, Wednesday, Aug. 26, in The New York Times and Chicago Tribune proposing the one-day sale of a “McWhopper,” Fortune reports

The mashup of McDonald’s Big Mac and Burger King’s Whopper would be sold Sept. 21 for Peace One Day, the Associated Press reports, in support of Peace Day.

McWhopper wouldn’t be sold nationwide, though. Burger King’s proposal suggests that customers in Atlanta, which is between both headquarters, would be able to get the burger that day only at a pop-up store, according to Fortune.

In response on Facebook, McDonald’s said it loved the idea but would like to team up to make a larger, “meaningful global effort.”
