Take an all-American date night Friday, Aug. 21, with burgers at Bacon Hill Kitchen & Pub and a seat in the bleachers to watch high school football season kick off.

Pub owners and brothers David and Zachary Lucchese describe Bacon Hill’s style as “coastal Southern.” You’ll find comfort foods like fried chicken and macaroni and cheese, plus appetizers like pork rinds with house seasoning.

Try the pub bestseller Bacon Hill Burger with American cheese, bacon, house-made pickles, onions and sauce for $11, or build your own for $8 plus 75 cents for additional toppings.

After dinner, head to Rice Field at Elkhart Central High School to watch a local football rivalry that’s getting national attention this season. The Mangy Lion game with crosstown rivals Elkhart Central and Elkhart Memorial starts at 7 p.m. and will be showcased in the Great American Rivalry Series. Admission is $5 at the gate.

If you’re running late getting the check or need some more time to finish up your meal, you can take it slow without missing a single play. You can listen to or watch many of tonight’s games on the radio or on your phone and follow The Elkhart Truth’s coverage on social media with the tag #TruthFB
