Learn how to care for and cook with Dutch ovens at potluck-style gathering
As most serious cooks know, there are few things better than a well-seasoned iron skillet.
Colorful Dutch ovens are a centerpiece in the kitchen and a point of pride for cooks. You can share a meal and show off your oven at Elkhart County Park’s fifth Dutch Oven Gathering on Saturday, Aug. 22.

The gathering will kick off with tips about caring for, cleaning and restoring old cookware, according to a release from Elkhart County Parks. Expert programs will cook in Dutch ovens and attendees can sample fresh kettle corn and cinnamon rolls.
After the demonstrations, attendees will have a potluck-style Dutch oven meal, or “D.O.G.” according to the release.
The educational program is $3. Anyone cooking for the meal can attend for free, according to the release.
