Goshen’s La Michoacana Ice Cream Shop moved to a bigger building at 304 N. Main St. two weeks ago because they needed more space for their customers, said Jessica Rodriguez, who helps her parents Adan and Alicia Corona run the business.
The new store at the corner of Pike and Main streets in Goshen is able to accommodate about 30 people at a time, Rodriguez said they hope busy intersection will help get the shop noticed.
In the three to four years since they first opened up beside the Maple City Market in Goshen, Rodriguez said there are still some people who don’t know about the local ice cream shop.
“Sometimes, we will still have people from Goshen come all the way over here, and they have no idea (we have a Goshen store),” Rodriguez said. “The time we were in the small (store, some customers) had no clue that we had another one in Goshen because it’s hidden, it’s in the corner.”
Even though they’ve moved up the street, it’s still the same La Michoacana as before.
There’s a variety of ice cream flavors for customers to choose from, such as chocolate and strawberry. There are also some “weird flavors,” as Rodriguez calls them, such as sapote, tequila and cheese. The ice cream shop also has a selection of flavored drinks such as pina colada, strawberry, coconut, horchata, hibiscus and lime.
The store also offers snacks, such as nachos and cheese and doritolocos, which is a bag of Doritos mixed with pork rinds, cucumbers, peanuts, hot and sweet and sour sauce and lemon.
