ModMex Restaurant in Elkhart plans to sell building along Toledo Road
ELKHART — If you’ve passed by ModMex Restaurant, you might have seen a sign that it’s for sale.
That’s because ModMex Restaurant wants to move to a “more central area,” once it sells its building at 1700 Toledo Road in Elkhart, according to co-owner Jose Rios. He didn’t have anything additional to add about the sale, move or when the move could happen.

The decision to sell the building comes shortly after the Mexican restaurant announced on its Facebook page that it will no longer serve lunch. They’ve had little luck in hiring new staff and Rios’ sister, who helped manage the restaurant during lunch, was offered another job that she couldn’t pass up.
But as of right now, the restaurant will still serve dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. With the decision to cut their lunch hours, Rios said they might add more items to the dinner menu.
