There are some options, though, that are filling without having to shell out too much cash.

The Dairy Bar 1 has ice cream and grilled cheese sandwiches with locally-produced cheese for less than what you’d otherwise pay for a soda, and there are more deals throughout the fair, according to previous Flavor 574 reporting.

A popular Mexican restaurant on the east side of Elkhart, ModMex, announced it would no longer be open during lunch hours.
Dinner hours will stay the same, from 5 to 9 p.m., from Thursday to Saturday, according to previous Flavor 574 reporting.
Co-owner Jose Rios said the hour cuts are due in part to little luck hiring new staff and a “hit or miss” lunch crowd.
Another fast-casual pizza restaurant could join the scene in St. Joseph County.
Pie Five Pizza, which offers custom, build-your-own pizzas, finalized a contract July 23 for a restaurant in a new shopping center on Main Street in Mishawaka, according to previous Flavor 574 reporting.
It’s expected to open in late spring or early summer 2016.
There are gluten-free and vegan crusts available and more than 28 toppings to choose from.
