Fair food cravings stop for no one, even if you’re only braving the bustle of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair once or twice during the nine-day event.
Cristy Eldridge, owner of Sports Time Family Pub and Grill in Elkhart, started Fair Food Week at her restaurant five years ago to let patrons get their fair food fix in the comfort of their favorite neighborhood pub.
”We have a lot of families here, and so many people were asking,” said Eldridge. “What everyone loves at the fair are the sweets, so we started with those.”

Starting Saturday, July 25 and continuing through Friday, July 31, the restaurant will feature a different main dish inspired by popular foods at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair.
Some of the more popular days, Eldridge said, are Greek Fest Day, Monday, July 27, which features Greek gyros and Greek salad; Wednesday, July 29, which is Juan’s Steak ’N’ Taters Day; and Thursday, July 30, featuring barbecue pig wings and, new this year, Italian meat lover’s flatbread pizza.
Another special new to this year is a stuffed jalapeno popper burger, featured on Tuesday, July 28.
There are also several classic fair food items you can order anytime during the week as a side item, like hand breaded corn dogs, deep fried veggies, elephant ears and deep fried Reese Cups and Oreos.
“We’re all big kids here, we love the fair,” said Eldridge.
