Texas Roadhouse, Church Community Services team up on eating contest and food drive

ELKHART — A big plate of ribs and a big appetite will help stamp out hunger at a fundraiser for Church Community Services (CCS).

The seventh Headlock on Hunger food drive on Sunday, July 19, will feature a rib eating contest and food drive at Texas Roadhouse, 3015 Brittany Court, Elkhart, according to a news release from the restaurant.

Teams of three people will complete in a bracket-style, winner-takes-all rib eating contest, according to the release. All proceeds from the event will go to CCS.

The rib eating contest starts at 1 p.m., according to CCS. Registration for the contest is closed, but anyone is welcome to show up and witness the competition. 

Canned goods, toiletries and cash donations can be dropped off during the event and 10 percent of the day’s total sales will be donated, according to the release. Texas Roadhouse will also sell coupon books for $10 to benefit CCS.

There will also be bounce houses, face painting and more activities in the parking lot, according to CCS. 

Cash and donations are kept in the community to help feed families.
