After you’ve come down from your red, white and blue food bender, start your weekend with the latest food and restaurant news in our area.

QDOBA MEXICAN GRILL COULD BE COMING TO ELKHART

It doesn’t look like Elkhart will get a Chipotle just yet, but Qdoba Mexican Grill could be the latest restaurant to join the Shoppes on Six lineup.

The Denver-based company is in negotiations to lease a space in the building planned for the corner of C.R. 6 and Cassopolis Street, according to previous Flavor 574 reporting.

Panda Express and Noodles & Company are also set to move in to the neighborhood.

HOOTERS SET TO REOPEN IN MISHAWAKA

Hooters in Mishawaka is making a comeback.

A representative with the company confirmed to Flavor 574 that the restaurant is set to open again at 205 W. Day Road, Mishawaka. It could be ready as soon as October.

The restaurant would also get a fresh look, according to Mark Whittle, senior vice president of global development at Hooters.

ASK A FOODIE: WHERE TO FIND LOCALLY MADE SAUSAGES

Turns out, there are plenty of local butchers that make their own sausages, jerky, salami and bologna.

In our latest Ask a Foodie story, we answered Larry Peters’ question: “Are there any local meat shops that make their own salami or bologna like I see on the Food Network?”

For a list of the butchers and what they specialize in, see the story on Flavor 574 and submit your own question while you’re at it!
