More than 25 food vendors will be featured at the Elkhart’s 36th annual Rhapsody in Green festival taking place Friday, June 12 through Sunday June 14 at the city’s Island Park.

Vendors will be located across the Lundquist-Bicentennial Bridge leading into the park, several of them offering ethnic cuisines like Cajun, German, Tex-Mex, Greek and Italian foods.

Hours and admission:
Friday, 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., $1
Saturday, 12 p.m. to 12 a.m., $1 after 5 p.m.
Sunday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., free

Admission to the family-friendly festival is free each day before 5 p.m. and costs $1 anytime after. Sunday’s festival is free all day.

“I guess the most exciting thing for me, being the one that has put the music together, would be Saturday night’s headliner, which is the reggae and Lazo,” said Karin Frey, superintendent of parks and recreation at the city of Elkhart. “That is a completely different atmosphere than what we’ve ever had.”

This year’s event features more than 70 hand craft vendors and about 90 commercial vendors, in addition to live music and children’s activities.

Frey said she anticipates a crowd of more than 50,000 attendees over the three festival’s three days. No alcohol will be permitted or sold at the festival and ATMs will be in place on the island for cash withdrawals.
