After getting approval of the Elkhart Plan Commission Monday, June 1, Buffalo Wild Wings is opening a new location in Elkhart in the near future.

Buffalo Wild Wings will join restaurants like Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Texas Roadhouse around East Windsor Avenue, near the Indiana Toll Road on the north side of the city.

The restaurant will be at 522 E. Windsor Ave, in front of Baymont Inn. The lot is across the street from Olive Garden and the building that formerly housed Bob Evans.

In the same area next to Texas Roadhouse, CBM Cycles, a motorcycle service center, is being built.

Owner Dan Stauffer said in an email his goal was to have the restaurant open by the end of the year.

The Plan Commission approved the final site plan and amended development conditions at the meeting Monday.

Stauffer said currently his team is working to submit its architectural drawings to the city and state to hopefully get a green light.

“We had been looking around the north side [of Elkhart] for about a year, and finally found a way to make this oddly shaped lot work for us,” Stauffer said.

He said this location will be in Buffalo Wild Wings’ new “stadia” style building, designed to make the restaurant feel more like a stadium

The restaurant will be about 7,000 square feet and will include a patio with garage-style doors, Stauffer said. It will also have about 60 TVs.

Other area locations for the national sports bar chain are in Goshen (1829 Rieth Blvd., 574-875-9299), Mishawaka (4343 N. Grape Road, 574-272-9464), South Bend (326 W. Ireland Road, 574-232-2293) and Warsaw (376 Enterprise Drive, 574-267-7707). All except the Warsaw location are owned by Stauffer.
