Elkhart is losing one of its downtown lunch options.
Pumpernickel’s Pretzel Bakery and Sandwich Shop, 500 S. Main Street, closed on Wednesday.
The restaurant’s owner owes about $192,000 in unpaid retail sales tax, according to the Indiana Attorney General‘s office. The restaurant’s catering business appears to be affected as well.
On its Facebook page, the bakery said the closing was only temporary, stating, “Due to some unforeseen issues, the pretzel bakery will be closed temporarily. We will keep you updated, and hope to be open again very soon. Sorry for any inconvenience.”
