A new, more compact Martin’s Super Market opens its doors in Goshen today, aiming to get shoppers in, out and on with their days more quickly.

Martin’s Express, located at 1401 College Ave., opens at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 7. Regular hours will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

This is the first store of its kind for the local grocery chain. Though it’s smaller than a regular Martin’s Super Market, it will still have all the usual food sections, a Side Door Deli Cafe, Starbucks and full-service deli.

When we wrote about the planned opening last week, readers had plenty to say about it. A few locals said they’re glad to have a grocery store within walking distance of their homes, others pledged its proximity to their workplaces will make them regulars at the Side Door Deli.

A couple of other readers asked Martin’s to consider doing something similar in Elkhart and Mishawaka.

If the very thought of grocery shopping makes your feet hurt and your head ache, the new Martin’s Express opening up in south Goshen next week may be just the thing. Martin’s Super Markets
