DAIRY QUEEN GIVING OUT FREE VANILLA CONES FOR BIRTHDAY

Birthdays aren’t really birthdays without cake or ice cream. Dairy Queen is celebrating its 75th birthday by passing out a small vanilla cone to its customers Monday, March 16.

Though freebies are limited to one per customer, the party doesn’t stop on Monday.

“… Free Cone Day is just the beginning,” Barry Westrum, executive vice president of marketing for Dairy Queeen, said in a news release. “We will surprise and delight our fans year-round with food and treat innovations that they have come to expect from us.”

ASK A FOODIE: IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO THE SAYING ’BEER BEFORE LIQUOR, NEVER BEEN SICKER?’

Overheard at some point during college is the myth: “Beer before liquor, never been sicker,” or “Liquor before beer, you’re in the clear.” But is that true?

Learn more about the myth and the science behind it on Flavor 574 and while you’re at it, drop us a question and you might just see it on our next Ask a Foodie.

GOSHEN BREWING COMPANY EXPECTED TO OPEN THIS SPRING

With the help of fundraising support and the help of family and friends, Goshen Brewing Company is expected to open this spring.

Jesse Sensenig has been working to open the brewery in the old NIPSCO building, 315 W. Washington St. in Goshen.

A Goshen College alum, Sensenig reached out for support on IndieGoGo for help buying fermentor tanks and is getting ready to open this season.

The craft brewing community is super supportive,” he told Flavor 574
