National Pancake Day: IHOP frying up flapjacks for charity

Pancakes are for breakfast, lunch or dinner on Tuesday, March 3 — National Pancake Day.

In honor of National Pancake Day, IHOP will be serving free buttermilk short stacks from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 3, according to a news release from the Riley Children’s Foundation

Customers digging in to a plate of buttermilk flapjacks are asked to make a voluntary $5 donation to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, according to the release. All donations made in Indiana will go to the hospital.

Last year IHOP raised more than $20,000 for the hospital. The pancake house has been celebrating National Pancake Day since 2006 and, since then, has raised $13 million for the Children’s Miracle Network and other charities.

There are two IHOP locations nearby in Michiana — one in Dunlap and another in Mishawaka. For those of you a little farther out, there’s also one in Michigan City, and three in Fort Wayne.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story said IHOP would only serve free pancakes until 3 p.m. It will serve until 10 p.m. Flavor 574 regrets the error.
