Sakura Japanese Steakhouse is done sharpening its knives.

The restaurant, also known as Sakura Hibachi & Sushi, opened at noon Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 151 C.R. 6 in Elkhart.

The restaurant serves Hibachi grilled food, traditional and contemporary American sushi dishes, bento boxes, udon and soba noodles, teriyaki and tempura dishes.

Sakura is also handing out VIP cards during its first month, which will give customers a 10 percent discount whenever they return to the restaurant.

There are six Hibachi grills that seat eight people each, co-owner “Teresa” Jia Ming Lin said. The restaurant also has six tables for eighteen customers and a sushi bar that seats six.

An earlier Flavor 574 article reported that Sakura Japanese Steakhouse was expected to open in late January, but Teresa said a misunderstanding with the city of Elkhart delayed the opening.

Sakura Japanese Steakhouse is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and 12 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.
