This year marks the fifth anniversary for Kalamazoo Beer Week, an event aiming to support the local craft beer movement.
The seven-day event includes parties, tastings, games and more at a variety of venues in Kalamazoo, Mich. Attendees will get chances to meet brewers, both from local breweries like Bell’s and from national ones like New Belgium and Dogfish Head, and – of course – taste lots of beer.
The week kicks off Saturday morning, Jan. 10, with Bell’s annual Snow Jog (a “choose your own adventure” race). Later that evening, the official kick-off pub crawl spans seven local pubs, with buses shuttling revelers The next morning, Jan. 11, there are beer brunches at Centre Street Tap House, O’Duffy’s Pub, O’Burdick’s and Bell’s Eccentric Cafe.
Other festivities throughout the week include game nights (from trivia and karaoke to pinball and Cards Against Humanity), pairing dinners (featuring Dark Horse, One Well, Arcadia, Brewery Vivant, Bell’s and a few national breweries), and an assortment of tap takeovers and draft release parties.
Each event is priced individually — many have free entry and guests simply pay for their food and drink, others have tickets or registration fees. For a full listing of events and their details, visit the Kalamazoo Beer Week 2015 website.
Last year’s event spanned eight days with more than 190 events and 40 breweries.
