Is someone on your Christmas list a homebrewer? Is there someone on your list who needs to upgrade some homebrewing equipment? Or maybe someone on your list has always wanted to homebrew and has just not gotten around to it.

Here are some more beer gift giving ideas. Quality Wine and Ale Supply in Elkhart and DIY Coffee and Ale Supply in Goshen both carry a full range of equipment and ingredients.

For beginners, DIY has kits starting at $39.95. These range in style from nut brown ales to black IPAs to Russian Imperial Stouts. You can find kettles, carboys, stir paddles and more, and you can also choose from malt extracts and liquid yeasts. If you are an all-grain brewer, there are grain mills and mash tuns. And if you are a do-it-yourself kind of brewer, hardware is available to fabricate your own equipment.

Both stores offer a huge selection of malts, hops and yeast strains. Chris May, owner of DIY, made a special effort to point out his six gallon conical fermenter, the cat’s meow for any brewer.

Both stores have qualified, knowledgeable staff, so if you are unfamiliar with what type of equipment or ingredients to give to the homebrewer on your list, don’t be afraid to ask questions.

And one of the best things about DIY is that you can enjoy a cup of small batch roasted coffee while you shop!
