Elkhart’s Twisted Cow is staying relevant as cold weather arrives by adding warm food and drink to its frozen yogurt menu.
Rose Miller, co-owner of the frozen yogurt and treat shop that opened in May, said she and her husband Mark started selling coffee, hot cocoa and chai in October, and they’ll soon put in a fireplace so customers can cozy up and enjoy their beverages in the store.
Warm pie filling was also added as a topping option for the frozen yogurt.
These changes are part of a plan to keep customers coming in even when the weather is, well, frightful.
“People who love ice cream, they are going to have it anytime,” Rose Miller said. “People who aren’t as crazy about ice cream may not come in as often. This way, if you have the whole family and only a few people want ice cream, the other members of the family can have a warm drink.”
Business has been strong since Twisted Cow opened, Miller said, and the couple feels they’ve met their goal of building strong relationships with customers.
Twisted Cow is serving Refinery Coffee Company coffee and grinding it fresh.
Through the winter months, customers can enjoy the hot beverages free with another purchase Monday through Thursday, Miller said.
And for customers who won’t let chilly weather get in the way of a big bowl of fro-yo, the Millers are selling a limited number of $30 punch cards starting at 5 a.m. Black Friday.
The punch cards allow for 10 “fill your cup” frozen yogurt purchases, about a $70 value, they said.
