Local home-brewing enthusiasts have a new spot to pick up their DIY supplies.

Michiana Brewers Supply in downtown South Bend will host its grand opening Friday, Aug. 22, starting with a ribbon cutting and root beer toast at 2 p.m. Special deals throughout the store will last until 9 p.m.

The new store features items designed for creating homemade beer, root beer, wine and soda.

The shop is owned by Aaron Goldstein, a former manager and operator of South Bend Brew Werks, which recently transformed itself from a brew supply store to a community brewpub.

Goldstein opened Michiana Brewers Supply in summer 2014 to fill the home-brewing supply gap, according to the shop website.
