LaSalle Grill, Carriage House honored by Wine Spectator magazine

Two South Bend restaurants have been named to Wine Spectator magazine’s 2014 Restaurant Wine List Awards.

LaSalle Grill and The Carriage House Dining Room & Gardens were honored on a list of 3,748 restaurants worldwide that offer the best wine selections. The list comprises the U.S. and more than 80 other countries, recognizing restaurants for their dedication to wine on three award levels.

The Carriage House, 24460 Adams Road in South Bend, won a Best of Award of Excellence, a second-tier award for a wine list that has “vintage depth or excellent breadth across several regions,” Wine Spectator said.

The restaurant has been named to the list since 1986, receiving 29 years of awards with a selection of more than 500 wines, according to Carriage House’s website. Judith Coté co-owns the restaurant with her husband, Adrian, and serves as the sommelier and wine manager.

LaSalle Grill received an Award of Excellence for a high-quality wine list that pairs thoughtfully with the menu. The grill, located at 115 W. Colfax Ave., offers 270 wine selections picked by sommelier Zoran Lazarevic

A full list of winners will appear in the August 31 issue of Wine Spectator, available on July 22. The restaurants are also featured on Wine Spectator’s website.
