Starbucks plans price hikes up to 20 cents to kick in Tuesday

Getting your morning caffeine fix is about to get a little more expensive.

Starbucks will be raising prices on some of the chain’s coffee drinks by 5 to 20 cents starting Tuesday, June 24, according to a report from the Associated Press.

The price hikes will not apply to all drinks on the menu and will vary by region.

Prices for medium and large brewed coffees, also known as Grande and Venti, respectively, will go up between 10 cents and 15 cents in most U.S. markets, the company said.

The price of a tall (or small) brewed coffee and Frappuccinos will not increase in most markets.

Buying Starbucks coffee at a supermarket to brew at home will also be more expensive, as the company is raising the price of a 12 oz. package of coffee by $1 from $8.99 to $9.99. The new prices for packaged coffee will go into effect on July 21.

The $1 price boost on packaged coffees sold in supermarkets and other retail outlets will follow J.M. Smucker’s recent decision to raise prices on its coffees, which include the Folgers and Dunkin Donuts brands.
