What better way to spend a Saturday than hanging with a herd of shaggy-maned bovine?

Cook’s Bison Ranch in Wolcottville will host its Annual Calf Day Celebration on Saturday, June 14, to celebrate spring and the birthing of new calves, according to the ranch’s website.

Food options will include bison burgers, bison brats and bison chili, along with a smoked bison jerky demonstration.

Activities are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and feature bison hair spinning, a mini petting zoo, the chance to feed bison on a free wagon tour, children’s entertainment, a scavenger hunt and live music throughout the day.

The event draws about 1,000 guests each spring, according to the ranch’s website.

Admission is free, though donations will be accepted to support Native American reservations. There may be a parking fee.
