The Vine in downtown South Bend has reopened after it was briefly shut down by the city.

On Saturday afternoon, May 10, Dalton Teitsma, a host for the restaurant, said the business plans on staying open until at least Sunday, May 18.

“After that we’re going to renegotiate everything that’s going on,” Teitsma said.

The City of South Bend shut the business down Friday morning, May 9, after the it failed to pay six months’ worth of rent to the city, WNDU reported. A court order was posted on the door, and the locks were changed. Representatives from The Vine will meet with the city Saturday, May 10.

Owner Mary Spillane told the South Bend Tribune that she was planning on closing the business at the end of the May.

The Vine in downtown Elkhart has not been affected.
