Have you ever picked a sandwich apart, pulled out an ingredient and worried if it came from Elkhart or a foreign country miles away?
The program will have a local food system meeting on Thursday, April 17, at the Martin Room of the Elkhart County Community Center at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds. Registration will be at 8:30 a.m. and the forum will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The meeting will focus on Elkhart County’s innovations in local food, farming, entrepreneurship and other topics.
Elkhart County is one of the two counties that were chosen for the Purdue University program pilot. By the end of the year-long program, the local community should have a better understanding of their local food system and how the local community plays a role in supporting their local food systems.
