This is an easy way to make a vegan chocolate mousse using avocado instead of heavy cream. The result is so rich, creamy and delicious that you won’t even miss the dairy. Plus, avocados are a superfood packed with nutrition and healthy fats, so it’s a dessert you can feel good about putting into your body. This recipe also calls for cacao powder instead of cocoa because the cacao is a way more nutritious form of chocolate. Learn about the difference here.

Vegan Chocolate Mousse

vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup raw agave nectar
  • 1/2 cup cacao powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate almond milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a medium mixing bowl using a food processor or immersion blender.
  2. Top with any of your favorite toppings. I used coconut shavings and on another I used crushed walnuts. You could also top with whipped cream or fresh fruit.
  3. Keep in freezer until ready to serve.
